Este artículo pretende explorar el Aprendizaje de Lenguas Asistido por Ordenador (CALL, Computer-Assisted Language Learning) en Portugal. Para ello, se centrará en el nivel de educación superior. La escasa explotación del CALL en Portugal ha sido ampliamente estudiado en varios informes, por ejemplo, el informe encargado por la UE titulado The Impact of Information and Communications Technologies on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and on the Role of Teachers of Foreign Languages (2002: 5): "The use and employment of ICT in FLT and FLL is far from satisfactory, as ICT resources are traditionally reserved for '(computer) science' subjects, and rarely assigned to art subjects. A general lack of appropriate training of language teachers in meaningful uses of ICT tends to strengthen this trend". The Federal Republic of Germany and the Portuguese Transition to Democracy (1974-1976)

The Portuguese transition to democracy was the first in the third wave of democratization, which would reach not only Greece and Spain (in 1974 and 1975), but also Latin America (in the mid-1980s) and Eastern Europe (at the beginning of the 1990s).1 Because of its unexpectedness, the Portuguese democratization caught the attention of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). Bonn’s foreign policy in this period was focused on détente, as a way of achieving the unification of the country. The main concern regarding the Western bloc was the stability, reinforcement and future enlargement of the European Economic Community (EEC). The expected scenario for the Iberian Peninsula was the future democratization of Spain (as general Franco was ill), which was expected to “contaminate” the Portuguese dictatorship. Awakening Imagination: Glimpses of Ignatian Spirituality in Seventeenth-Century French Hagiographic Theatre

The Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556) propose an active method of exercising spirituality through meditation, prayer, and imaginative contemplation. Beyond mere spectators, Ignatian disciples are invited to become actors in the scene unfolding in their sensory imaginations, in what Barthes calls the “récit christique” (Barthes 1971, 10). In that sense, the Exercises possess a performative force. The implicit freedom inspired in the exercitant, the person who performs the Exercises, echoes the call to the imagination of the spectator of seventeenth-century French hagiographic drama. Exercises promulgated throughout the four weeks of the spiritual retreat are reflected in the development of the protagonists of some of these hagiographic plays. Our aim is to investigate how the spirit of the Exercises may be present in the conception of the hagiographic corpus. Specifically, we explore these plays for the presence of the suggestion of Ignatian spirituality and practices included in the Spiritual Exercises. Notably, we investigate the prevalence of repetition in Le Véritable Saint Genest (1647) by Jean Rotrou. We also draw attention to the ideas of spiritual and material detachment promulgated in the Exercises and address how they are expressed and lived out by hagiographic protagonists, specifically in Desfontaines’s Le Martyre de Saint Eustache (1643) and L’Illustre Olympie (1645). Finally, we address how a form analogous to imaginative contemplation may have inspired hagiographic spectators to supplement missing visual clues on stage and to become directors of their own internal and personal plays, much like the retreatant in the Exercises, with the ultimate purpose of transformation and a call to action in daily life

Coral Reefs of Miskitus Cays, Nicaragua

The Miskitus Cays, on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, consist of eighty mangrove and two sand and gravel cays, surrounded by seagrass beds, octocoral gardens, patch reefs, reef crests, extended algae platforms, short reef walls, and two marginal reefs around the sand cays. Seventy sites were inspected and eighteen sites were selected for rapid assessments in order to determine the status of the coral reefs. Linear transects and the intercept point methods were used to determine the relative benthic cover, and the density, size and health of coral colonies was estimated following the AGRRA protocol. Water was highly turbid due to the shallowness of the reefs and high wave energy. Northwest reefs, closer to the Coco river mouth, were affected by terrestrial sediments and were overgrown by algae whereas storm damage was evident in the eastern reef crest fronts. In total, 39 stony coral species were found and 12 new species were reported for Cayos Miskitus. Mean live coral cover was high (43.4%), but it was still lower than the algae cover (54.2%). Mean coral diameter (59.7 cm) and height (4.2 cm) were high but total mortality (27.9%), bleaching (4%) and diseases (3%) were low. Reefs of Nicaragua are in the best condition of the Caribbean region of Central America but good management of the fisheries, the marine reserve, and the Coco river basin are urgent to maintain reef quality

Transition in the Era of a Pandemic: An Exercise in Mindfulness

COVID-19 took over the world in March 2020 and overturned our practices, customs, and perspectives. It reminded us that how we relate to one another defines how we choose to build our community and our society. In our forced isolation and confinement, it became evident that we must remember to let go, slow down, and rely on each other to positively influence our future. In times of drastic change, exercising kindness to yourself and to those around you can help wade through challenges and make the best of them, one day at a time, one step at a time. This reflection explores how the transition to remote learning was lived by an instructor and her students of French at a liberal arts institution in the Midwest. It illustrates that as we live through life\u27s challenges, we find opportunities for personal and communal growth

SELF CARE IN PEOPLE WITH HEART FAILURE, The influence of Nursing Interventions

Aim: Assess the influence of the nursing interventions on the self-care, accomplished by patients with heart failure. Methodology: The research was based on the database EBSCO (MEDLINE with FULL TEXT, CINALH, Plus with Full Text and MedicLatina) retrospectively from 2000 to 2018. Ten articles were selected based on their relevance for the study and evaluated the evidence levels of the articles using Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2011). Results: The nursing team carried out educational meetings, interviews and home visits, allowing the identification of the functional status, self-care, symptom management, patient satisfaction and health service utilization, as health gains. Conclusions: With this review we concluded that nursing interventions can contribute to the recovery of patients with heart failure that self-care, which pinpoints the importance of nursing in the role of health promotion

Communication with the person with incapacity: Protocol of communication with elderly people dependent on self-care, a strategy of Psychomotricity

Objective: To determine how communication is used by psychomotricity to establish a therapeutic relationship with elderly people in need of self-care. Methodology: Systematic review of literature by research in EBSCO and Google Scholar, carried out based on the key words: self-care and communication. The search resulted in five articles chosen for analysis. Results: After an analysis of the collected articles, we were able to obtain information on how communication is an indispensable tool of the psychomotricist in establishing the therapeutic relationship through the way in which it is expressed. Conclusions: The therapeutic relationship, established through the tonic-emotional dialogue between the patient and the therapist, allows to promote their self-confidence and self-esteem, thus promoting the patient's general well-being and quality of life
